My views on the politics in my state(Anambra, NIGERIA)

To a friend: I implore you to read this write-up carefully till the end. You have probably been waiting for my so-called defence on the challenge you put forward. I have had plenty of time but all those time I used it not, in putting forward my defence. To cut this long story short; It is not he who shouts the loudest that carries the day although it may seemm initially that he may be the one. I refer to Your candidate. Politics in this country has been a battle for supremacy and control of resources. Take a look at what is happening as the presidential election draws near. The battle is clearly between giants. A person in his right mind would rightly take the side where he feels would be for the greater good not just a side which will only bear its own agenda or selfish motive in mind. The election in Anambra state is a serious determinant on the 2015 presidential election. Both sides(APC and PDP), canvassed for support because Anambrarians are the core east people(meaning that here is the centre of Igboland). Note that the decision of the Anambrarians would affect that of the other Igbos and somehow other minor tribes surrounding the east. Imagine getting majority of the Igbos and many minor tribes by your side, it would remain the other two major tribes. APGA is a party which supports the Goodluck government because he is the president that has ensured proper allocation of resources especially allocation that should come to the people of the Southeast. That doesn't mean that he gives a cold shoulder to other tribes. I personally don't like PDP but I will have to support it because of Goodluck Jonathan. Thats part of the reaon why I supported APGA in the past Gubernatorial election.
The achievements of the outgoing governor is probably another reason. It is expected that the incoming governor would better than the outgoing governor ESPECIALLY if they are from the same party. Peter Obi came in after he had won the suit against Ngige who was the then governor. His main agenda was based on the leaders of tomorrow which is us. He delved into education but that doesn't mean that he excluded other sectors. What need is there in giving a person what he doesn't know how to use talk more of how to maintain. That's why he invested a lot in the educational sector to make sure that the youths can efficiently manage what they have been given and what they will still be given. That's the secret of development. In the sector of agriculture, he also invested a lot to make sure that our state remains a contributor of foodstuffs which is dear necessity in every nation. He made sure that loans are available and affordable(even if it requires subsidizing the amount involved from the state pocket) for every one who is willing to be a farmer. His contribution to making the inland surface transportation(road) available for all even for those in the rural areas is highly commendable. But one observation which some may term a fault I will reconcile him with is that he awards contract more to our local construction companies instead of to foreign companies like RCC and the likes. That I think is what make some of our roads non-durable. But tell me, how does one learn? Is it not by teaching him more especially through practicals. The power sector which was privatized last year ending depends mainly on the federal government so it is off our debate. To the creation of employment, I also give him kudos. The company HERO is just a major point here. Other include creation of employment on the education sector, security sector(NDI POLICE PETER OBI),environmental sanitation sector and numerous others. To ensure public workers are up and doing in their areas of work, he donated cars to the crucial divisions of the government offices. You are grieving that he refused to subsidize your school's fees, you forget that the money used in doing that could be harnessed in developing other sectors. If he had not been up and doing in other sectors, then you would be right to question him as to that regards. I believe you are at pace with the news, then why do you complain like you forget that he is obviously a person with high connections in terms of foreign investors. Remember that in every seemingly difficult situation, there has to be a lesser devil(a better option). Among the candidates that contested for the governorship post, four persons were most prominent: Ngige, Obiano, Ezeemo Godwin & Ifeanyi Ubah. Ubah is a renounced criminal. Ngige during the crises surrounding his tenure as the governor, shamelessly visited the Okija shrine and even striped for success and protection. Such person I believe is not worthy to be a governor. Even every toddler then knew that he usurped the governorship post then. The senatorial position he got into since 2011 has not produced any worthy-to-note achievement. Tell me, does such a man(who although has a doctor attached to his name but does not have even one hospital in the country at least as a contribution to the creation of jobs) seem worthy to be a governor? If he has then it should be a public knowledge. Lest I forget, that Anambra state is enjoying being debt-free is because of Peter Obi. P.s, do not be confused by those who try to destroy every work the outgoing governor has done. Do researches to find out better. It is said that a person does not know the value of what he has until he looses it. We Anambrarians(home and in diaspora) need Patience. Only with Patience, shall we be endowed with Goodluck.
